A domiciliary care worker is someone who visits people and delivers care to people who are unable to look after themselves. You will go from home to home, helping service users to continue living independently. Each service user is different, so the level and amount of care can differ depending on individual client needs.
Duties Can Include
Personal Care – dressing washing, bathing, and grooming so you need to be trustworthy
Assisting with house tasks -food preparation and assistance with meals
Accompanying the client to activities or medical appointments
Companionship – communicating and taking an interest in client’s needs so you would need to be caring, compassionate and empathetic
Assisting with paperwork’s such as paying bills, so reliability is key
Helping with household tasks, including, doing weekly shopping, household maintenance.
Experience in care is not required as the most mandatory, up-to-date training is provided to obtain the necessary skills for individuals with a keen interest and willingness to learn. If you have experience, this is desirable.
