Job Description

Description/Summary: The Compliance Director in a third-party asset management company is a professional responsible for leading and supervising compliance activities within the asset management industry. Their main objective is to ensure that the company operates in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and standards in the financial and investment sector.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Development and implementation of policies and procedures: Responsible for creating and maintaining policies and procedures to ensure that the company and its employees operate in compliance with relevant laws and regulations. This includes guidelines for preventing money laundering, fraud, conflicts of interest, and other illegal practices.
  • Continuous monitoring and evaluation: It is their role to continuously monitor company operations to identify potential compliance issues. This can be done through internal audits, process reviews, and risk analyses.
  • Education and training: The professional should promote compliance awareness among company employees and provide regular training to ensure that everyone is aware of compliance policies and procedures.
  • Reporting and communication: Responsible for providing regular reports to senior management and the board of directors on the state of compliance within the company. They should also interact with regulatory bodies and respond to any investigations or inquiries related to compliance.
  • Problem resolution: In case of compliance violations or ethical issues, they should investigate the matters and take appropriate corrective actions. This may involve implementing disciplinary measures or policy reviews.
  • Monitoring regulatory changes: The professional should stay updated on changes in financial and investment sector laws and regulations, ensuring that the company adapts to these changes appropriately.
  • Risk management: They should work in collaboration with other company departments, such as the risk management team, to ensure that compliance-related risks are identified and addressed properly.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Economics, Business Administration, or related fields.
  • Postgraduate degree in Business Law, Finance, Risk Management, or related fields.
  • Significant experience in compliance roles or related areas in the financial and asset management sector.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of relevant laws and regulations in the asset management industry is crucial. This includes financial regulations, investment rules, compliance with regulatory agencies, anti-money laundering prevention, and other aspects of the sector.
  • Leadership, communication, ethics, and integrity skills.
  • Solid understanding of risk management is important as they will work collaboratively with other teams to identify and address compliance-related risks.
  • Advanced English proficiency.

Preferred:

  • Certifications in compliance, such as the Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) or other relevant certifications.
